FAQ - Irs gov tax professionals e file provider services

How can I e-file as a Tax Pro without being able to create a e-services account with the IRS?
I assume you have a PTIN number that authorizes you receive payments for preparing taxes. If you are working for a tax prep company you efile under their EFIN number. If you are independent, no software will allow you to file only with your PTIN. The IRS mandates that a paid preparer who prepares over 10 tax returns must have a PTIN. If you only paper-file, EFIN is not needed, but you must sign the returns.
How do you fill out your taxes when your soon to be ex spent all the HSA moneys? Will IRS understand if you file separately and donu2019t include it?
As with most answers thus far, youu2019ve left out relevant information which will make it impossible to answer your question:The HSA Account is in whose name? If yours then yes, you are on the hook for complying with the rules in this regard,In referencing your u2018Exu2019, are you formally separated? Is there a legal document verifying the date of the separation? If yes, then the withdrawal may be attributable to both of you, or to your u2018Exu2023 in the event the proceeds were NOT used in conformity with the rule. Alternatively, was your divorce proceeding initiated BEFORE the HSA withdrawal? If yes, then the proceeds may be deemed to be a joint asset and severable towards the settlement and thereby tax attributable to your soon-to-be ex-spouse. Pay attention to the calendar dates relating to each piece of the process. Is your u2018Exu2023 listed as injured or dependent? If yes, then explanatory notes may be included in your filings in support and or clarification of the usage.Perhaps you might flesh out your answer which gives us the opportunity to be more precise in our answers . . the devil is in the details when it comes to dealing with the IRS, as we all know.
How can I e-file my US tax returns to IRS on my own?
What do you mean by, u201con my ownu201d in the question? If you mean can you just fill out manual forms, scan them into your computer and email them to the IRS or upload them to the IRS website, then, NO, I donu2019t think you can do that. You can file your taxes for free, but you have to use one of the companies that has contracted with IRS. If you file state taxes, you need to use a company that is also contracted with your state. Many of them are free for federal returns. I have used TaxAct in the past, but I recently switched to OnLineTaxes (OLT.com) because TaxAct was going to charge me $40 and OLT was free. The whole process never took more than 20 minutes. With the new tax reform, that didnu2019t change much.
How does an Uber driver file taxes? What is the best way to claim business expenses (fuel, car maintenance, etc.) as a transportation service provider?
Resources:Tax Advice for Uber DriversTax Guide for Self-EmployedMileage Deduction 101Iu2019d read through those to get a good understanding of what you can deduct and what you should be paying. As mentioned by others, you can either write off the actual costs of operating your vehicle (gas, repairs, maintenance) or use the standard mileage rate and multiple your business miles by 54 cents.A couple things to keep in mind. If this is your first year, you may want to use the standard mileage rate because you can always switch to the other method in later years - the inverse isnu2019t true. Donu2019t forget about the other deductions youu2019re eligible for as an Uber driver: the cost of buying water bottles for customers, software to keep track of your miles and expenses and a host of other expenses can also be written off.
How illegal immigrants file taxes (presumably using ITIN) while paying taxes using fake SSN? How IRS accepts such forms as SSN used to pay tax and ITIN used for filling tax don't match?
Illegal immigrants are not authorized to work in the US and are not entitled to all the benefits of a citizen or legal resident, However, if they are here they are expected to pay taxes as any citizen would. If they choose to work, they are expected to pay income taxes. If they use a fake Social Security number to obtain work, it usually belongs to another person. This is illegal and could result in being ineligible to get a green card because any reported wages would be tracked to the account of the actual owner of the Social Security number along with any FICA/ Medicare taxes that the employer withholds. In order to isolate the tax reporting for the immigrant from that of the actual Social Security holder, the IRS issues an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) to the immigrant under which he/she may report their earnings. When the copies of any W-2 or other withholding documents with fake SSN are included on the return, then the IRS now has the ability to segregate the wages that are incorrectly reported and notify Social Security Administration to segregate any reported FICA/ Medicare from the actual owneru2019s account. If the immigrant works u201cunder the tableu201d in either a cash-based transaction or self-employed status, it does not remove the obiligation to correctly report earnings. It just changes the forms required on the tax return and may incur penalties to worker and/or the employer.Disclaimer: Since you are not my client, the above message is not intended to constitute written tax advice, but general information for discussion purposes only. How do I file a GSTR-1 if services provided to a tax deductor?
GSTR-1 is a return that specifies outward supplies made by an assessee over a period of one month. Supplies made to a tax deductor are also covered and hence have to be reported in Form GSTR-1.Separate section may be provided in the return for supplies made under section 51 of the CGST Act but mostly such supplies are reported in supplies made to B2B parties. In GSTR-3B, the amount deducted as TDS is reflected in the E-Cash Ledger and hence, is deductible while making payment of taxes.
What happens to my files when a file hosting service provider (e.g. Dropbox, Copy, Box) goes out of business?
More or less it depends on the service provider you have chosen. I'm not talking specifically about any provider but a Generic Storage as a service provider. So I'm taking this question as a whole what if my files gets lost in Cloud. And I'm considering two scenarios: The provider goes out of business/Provider himself loses your file out of hardware failure.Going out of business is a bit vague idea. Even if they go out of business then at least they will pryou a prior intimation that users can recover their data as we are going to shut down this service. This should be there in your SLA (Service Level Agreement). They never go out of business in one day. If they foresee it they'll intimate you.Hardware failure is something which needs to be taken care of. It's a bitter truth but it is what it is. Hardware does fail and one can easily lose data. So the redundancy which others have talked about in other answers is something which you provider also takes care of.Redundancy is increased usually by isolating the hardware. Isolation in a way that the hardware is totally isolated in form of Network/Power. And this redundancy not only saves one from hardware failure but maintenance windows as well. So it depends who will pay for this redundancy. It could be your service provider who will eventually keep replicating your data on to the other hardware and would make it look like one. Or the provider will give you this choice in form of Availability Areas/Zones. So that when you store your data on ZoneA do replicate it on Zone B as well. And for some reasons if hardware goes down on A you would still be left with data on B.
